"Hi, Dotty and Peggy, Judy and future guests. We did quite a bit of
research before coming to Weston. Your Victorian room was chosen #l and
Sharon and I loved it. Loved the "pink glow" cast on the white curtians at
night. Also the working window transons above the door - authentic, classy.
(Pinch the bracket ends toward each other and them pull the steel rod
down/up to open/close).
So many nice, thoughtful touches and too many to list!
Things we enjoyed doing in Weston. Pirtle Winery: if you like sweet dessert
wines than a MUST try (and a bargin) is the sweet and d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s
Blackberry wine. Is is 92 % blackberry and 8% honey + a winning combination
and I believe an excellent value at $18 a bottle. Dessert wines usually cost
more. Taste test at Pirtles are free!
Vineyards Resturant gets an A plus on presentation Food is an A plus Pricey
but worth it! For a light lunch go with a cup of their potatoe soup -
comes in an ice cream dish!
You want to test the early 1900 flight of steep stairs. Not for the faint
of heart. You'll see what I mean.
SHOPS - all thousand of them. My wife loved them. I was kidding about the
thousand. My favorite was the Missouri Velley Boutique with the edgy Queen
Victorian clothing.
O'Malley's Irish Pub: This was the roaring good time pleasant surprise of
the trip.
This was the most unique, atmospheric bar I've ever frequented WAY below
ground level, stone walls who knows how thick. barrel stone ceiling. On
Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights, live Irish music - MUST DO. The bar is
smokey, crowded (expect a challenge to find a seat but people are friendly,
just ask! $ 5 cover. The bar opens at 8: p,m. and is crowded by 8:01 (It's
that good)
Enjoyed the $4 pint Weston Brewing Co beers on tap - My favorite for anyone
who is still readingg - the Irish Stout. Directions to pub: Just remember:
left @ Spring Street and then right on Main to the historic part of town.
Avalon Cafe: similar experience to the Vineyard, excellent presentation
and terrific food. My only criticism - and its a minor one if you are from
the Midwest; major if you are a NYC snob the waitress could have been more
attentive." |
